Almost a quarter of the country’s 2,400 pilots may be out of a job unless the New Zealand Airline Pilots’ Association can bring that number down.Air New Zealand is looking to make 387 pilots redundant as part of massive cost-cutting measures after it slashed capacity to around 5 percent due to the covid-19 outbreak.Those pilots would join 208 from Virgin Australia Airlines who were told on the weekend that they’d been made redundant when the Australian carrier said it was closing its New Zealand bases permanently.
