Investors may be cheered as Italian virus cases slow

A smaller number of new covid-19 cases in Italy may put local investors in an optimistic mood today, following a positive lead on Wall Street, where markets remain buoyed by a massive stimulus programme.  There were 4,050 new infections in Italy in the past 24 hours, down from 5,217 the prior day, Bloomberg reported. Meanwhile in Spain, the virus claimed 812 lives on Monday, slightly below Sunday’s 838 fatalities. Spain, Italy and the US have all surpassed the number of confirmed cases that were reported by China.
