No need to leave middle seats empty, pilots say

The New Zealand Pilots’ Association sees no reason for social distancing measures that would leave middle seats empty on aircraft.  “Evidence suggests the risk of transmission on board aircraft is extremely low,” NZALPA president Andrew Ridling said. “NZALPA believes that the wearing of face coverings for passengers and crew will reduce this already low risk while avoiding the possibility of dramatic cost increases to air travel with seats going empty.” His comments came after Qantas announced new measures for its Australian domestic f...
