The New Zealand dollar fell sharply against the Australian dollar after better-than-expected jobs numbers across the Tasman reduced the chances of a rate cut there next month. The kiwi was trading at 95.91 Australian cents at 5pm in Wellington from 96.30 cents at the same time yesterday. The Australian economy added 28,900 jobs in December, nearly three times the consensus expectation of 10,000. The unemployment rate also fell to 5.1 percent, a nine-month low, from 5.2 percent.
