The New Zealand sharemarket was virtually flat on Wednesday as new retail data showed spending stalled in April.The S&P/NZX 50 Index closed down 0.059% or 7.48 points, falling to 12,779.26. 37.8 million shares changed hands, valued at $127.4m.The S&P/NZX20 index closed at 7,569.97, down 0.031%, while the S&P/NZX10 index closed at 1,936.43, up 0.075%.There were 54 gainers on the main board and 74 decliners.'Sentiments are better than it was'New data from Stats NZ on Wednesday showed that retail spending was flat in April 2025...
