The New Zealand sharemarket carved out a decent rise of nearly 1% on a quiet day for company news, but it was helped by a sharp bounce-back across the Tasman.The S&P/NZX 50 Index picked up steam mid-afternoon and closed at 11,848.13, up 102.6 points or 0.87% after reaching an intraday low of 11,720.15. There were 98 gainers and 39 decliners over the whole market on volumes of 34.43 million share transactions worth $143.5m.Matt Goodson, managing director of Salt Funds Management, said many market participants are away for the school hol...
