The New Zealand sharemarket carved out a decent rise of nearly 1% on a quiet day for company news, but it was helped by a sharp bounce-back across the Tasman.The S&P/NZX 50 Index picked up steam mid-afternoon and closed at 11,848.13, up 102.6 points or 0.87% after reaching an intraday low of 11,720.15.
