Forsyth Barr has lifted the odds of the Commerce Commission approving Contact’s takeover of Manawa Energy.In a commentary on Contact and Manawa, analysts said that based on the Commerce Commission's mergers and acquisitions guidelines and analysis of the wholesale electricity market, Forbarr believes that Contact’s proposed acquisition is likely to be approved.“However, it is not a fait accompli, given the political and regulatory scrutiny the sector is currently under and the perception of reduced competition.
