Genesis Energy believes that wholesale electricity market spot prices are “now past their peak”, thanks to new generation plans and a new deal among the largest generators to keep the coal-fired Huntly Power Station open.“The announced pipeline of new generation out to 2030, coupled with increased firming products we have brought to market, will bring downward price pressure to the market,” Genesis chair Barbara Chapman told the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting in Christchurch.The meeting followed...
