The latest TVNZ interim report is basically nothing to get too excited about — and the government will be delighted.  The ultimate effect of the state-owned broadcaster’s most recent financials, as decent as they were on their own terms, will probably be to stiffen the political resolve for what could yet be this government’s most enduring media legacy: an increasingly likely merger of TVNZ and RNZ. Today, TVNZ reported an interim profit of $33.9 million, up 50% year on year.
