Climate Commission's 'steady as you go' advice on ETS price controls

The Climate Change Commission says price control settings for the emissions trading scheme (ETS) don’t need to change, citing the need for market confidence.That meant the cost containment reserve price and auction floor price should only be adjusted for inflation.The recommendations are contingent on an 84-89 million tonne per CO2 equivalent (Mtco2e) gap being bridged between NZ's domestic emissions budget and the nationally determined contribution (NDC) towards the Paris Agreement.There is also uncertainty around a proposed change t...
