Daisy Lab gets green light to scale up GMO trials

Start-up company Daisy Lab has won approval to scale up its protein production using genetically modified organisms in a contained facility.The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted the business's application to produce dairy-identical proteins using containment vessels up to 2,000 litres. The total on-site volume is capped at 5,000 litres.The EPA's general manager, hazardous substances and new organisms, Chris Hill, said precision fermentation had potential for major savings in land use, water use and carbon footprint.Daisy...
