Former New Zealand Rugby boss David Moffett is urging the national body to consider a cooperative model as an alternative way to raise money without having to sell a stake to a private equity firm.Moffett, who oversaw the professionalisation of rugby and stitched up the major Adidas sponsorship in the late 1990s, wants to see local rugby remain in NZ hands by selling shares in a cooperative to the public who’ve supported the team for 130 years.
