Restaurant Brands New Zealand’s first-quarter sales rose 5.3 percent to $200.1 million.

New Zealand sales were $98 million, down 1.5 percent as a result of the government-mandated store closures. On a same-store basis, sales increased 1.7 percent.

KFC, Carl’s Jr. and Taco bell all saw continued growth, but Pizza Hut sales decreased with two stores sold to independent franchisees.

Australian sales rose 13.3 percent to $50.4 million, and were up 2 on a same store basis, despite impact of covid-19 restrictions on dine-in sales during late March.

US sales rose 6.3 percent to $51.8 million and were up 7.9 percent on a same store basis.

The group warned of a significant impact on the current quarter with all New Zealand stores closed for most of April but expects to reopen drive-thru at level 3 restrictions.
