The decision to effectively double customs and biosecurity border tourist levies makes little sense given it is not known when borders will reopen, Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) says.New Zealand customs and the Ministry for Primary Industries confirmed today they will increase GST inclusive border processing levies from $20.11 to $43.73 for each airline passenger and from $21.06 to $36.72 per cruise passenger from Dec 1.The levies, introduced five years ago to recover costs of customs and MPI biosecurity work at ports of entry, are charged to...
