The a2 Milk Company has inked a long-awaited deal to purchase Yashili’s New Zealand plant for $282 million and sold its stake in Mataura Valley Milk to Open Country Dairy.The Yashili deal, as BusinessDesk has previously reported, had been long-awaited as it looked to develop its own manufacturing capabilities.Owned by China Mengniu Dairy, the $220m manufacturing site was opened in 2015 and sits next door to Synlait Milk’s North Island site.'Meaningful progress'China Mengniu Dairy is one of the three largest dairy companies i...
