Transpower warns over electricity supply this evening

Electricity system operator Transpower has warned supply could fall short tonight and has asked generators to make more capacity available and lines companies to reduce controllable demand such as hot water heating.Transpower said a conductor wire fell from a tower around State Highway 7 in North Canterbury constraining supply.It said the market was currently stable, however, if there is a major plant failure, there was a risk of not being able to meet demand through the evening.If there is insufficient supply or demand control this evening the...
