NZ dollar edges lower as greenback strength outshines local growth

By Rebecca Howard Dec. 22 (BusinessDesk) - The New Zealand dollar fell as a stronger US dollar continues to dominate markets, overshadowing a better-than-expected gross domestic product number.  The kiwi dollar fell to 69.07 US cents as at 5pm in Wellington from 69.34 cents late Wednesday.                Gross domestic product grew 1.1 percent in the three months ended Sept. 30, accelerating from a revised 0.7 percent pace in the June quarter, Statistics New Zealand said in a statement.
