NZ dollar heads for weekly 0.7% gain, all eyes on possible US govt shutdown

By Rebecca Howard Jan. 19 (BusinessDesk) - The New Zealand dollar is heading for a 0.7 percent weekly gain as the world waits to see if US policymakers reach a deal to avoid a shutdown.  The kiwi traded at 73.08 US cents as at 5pm in Wellington unchanged from 8.30am and up from 72.60 cents yesterday. It was at 72.54 US cents last Friday in New York. The trade-weighted index advanced to 74.98 from 74.89 yesterday.
