The first six months of the year has been a great period for global sharemarkets, with the notable exception of the NZX benchmark index.Wall Street has been particularly strong, with the heavily technology weighted Nasdaq up 12.5% since the end of 2020 while the broader based S&P 500 Index appreciated 14.4%. Meanwhile, the ASX benchmark index gained 11% for the six months to June 30 while the NZX50 Capital Index was down 4.5%.
