Govt to make high-rise housing easier

The government wants to make it easier for planners to sign off on high-rise apartments in large cities as part of a new national policy statement. Urban Development Minister Phil Twyford and Environment Minister David Parker today released the national policy statement on urban development, giving local authorities two years to comply with plans enabling taller buildings in city centres to make use of as much development capacity as possible.
