Emissions from new cars in New Zealand have started increasing this year, say industry insiders, and could worsen if the government weakens the current clean car standard. The Land Transport (Clean Vehicle Standard) Amendment Bill has been introduced to Parliament and the Government intends to pass it through all stages this week under urgency with no select committee submission process.It follows the scrapping of the clean car discount at the end of last year.
