The Reserve Bank is now required to consider the impact on housing when making monetary and financial policy decisions, Finance Grant Robertson said.The government has been under increasing pressure to do something about the overheated housing market, with house price inflation running at 19% during the past 12 months as buyers take advantage of ultra-low interest rates.
