Workforce policy links executive pay to public sector outcomes

The Government is formalising its intentions to link public sector pay to performance and to keep a tight rein on agency budgets.The Public Service Commission issued a new workforce policy on Wednesday, which stipulated that the pay of chief executives and deputies will be linked to outcomes “to encourage high performance and ensure accountability”.The commission removed performance pay in 2018, and some public sector experts say reintroducing it would be a retrograde step.Fiscal sustainability was also a key theme in the policy sta...
