The government is seeking business cases for the development of wood-based fuels and an increase in local processing activities to generate the residues to supply feedstock for them.Te Uru Rākau, the Ministry for Primary Industries’ forestry arm, wants to encourage investment in biocrudes – from which other fuels or chemicals can be made; liquid biofuels, including aviation fuel and biodiesel; and solid fuels, such as wood chip, pellets and torrefied wood.
