Chinese demand for food drives export growth in October

Chinese demand for animal protein because of swine fever disrupting pork supply there drove another month of double-digit export growth for New Zealand firms selling into the world’s most populous nation. Exports to China rose to $1.5 billion in October, 22.8 percent more than the same month a year earlier and 19.8 percent higher at $16.17 billion on an annual basis, Stats NZ figures show. That outpaced the more modest 4.3 percent monthly increase in total exports to $5.04 billion and a 3.7 percent lift in annual exports to $59.37 billion...
