Tasman District Council mayor Tim King says not much can be done to prevent the closure of Carter Holt Harvey's Eves Valley Sawmill.After announcing the potential closure on Wednesday, Nelson mayor Nick Smith told BusinessDesk he contacted Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) after hearing second-hand about the closure and its potential to lead to 142 direct job losses.He said CHH told him the consultation would go on until Sep 1, and that a final decision would be made on Sep 4.CHH did not immediately respond to a request for comment.'Ironic&...
