The fishing industry is bracing itself for a decision about how much orange roughy it will be allowed to catch from a Tasman Sea fishery that is partly shared with other countries.Officials from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) have recommended that the current 2,058-tonne quota for New Zealand’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) be cut by 20% to 57%.It follows a 40% cut made last year to the larger orange roughy fishery on the Chatham Rise, off the South Island's east coast.Orange roughy exports were worth $49 million in 20...
