Beef and Lamb New Zealand has failed to get the support from its levy-payers to give its directors a pay rise.At the industry body’s annual meeting in Nelson on Tuesday, farmers were asked to vote on increasing the pool for directors fees by roughly 9% to $475,000.While the motion went down with 65.6% against on a “one farmer, one vote” basis, the turnout was roughly 12.7% across all resolutions.If it had passed, it would have increased the fee for chair Kate Acland from $76,220 to $90,000 a year.
