Property values hit nationwide record as slowdown looms

New Zealand property values have reached record highs across all regions, although the coronavirus outbreak is set to stymie growth.  Kiwibank senior economist Jeremy Couchman described the housing market as a “bright spot amongst the gloom” but warned covid-19 was likely to dim the glow throughout the year.The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand house price index, which measures the changing value of property in the market, increased 8.7 percent year-on-year to a record high of 3,013.The index for New Zealand excluding Auckland increased...
