House sales generated $6.7b in profits last quarter

Real estate deals generated a capital gain of $6.7 billion last quarter with the median profit per sale $276,000, compared to $41,000 in the prior quarter.According to CoreLogic's latest pain and gain report, a record 98.4% of all sales were on the profit side of the ledger. This came on a median "hold period" of 7.3 years between the sale of a property. Only $20.7m worth of property transactions were considered unprofitable with a median loss of $25,000.
