State housing agency Kāinga Ora spent $10.2 million defending legal action launched by publicly listed property developer Winton over two of its planned developments.In 2022, Winton alleged Kāinga Ora’s decision to turn down its proposed Sunfield community as a special development project amounted to anti-competitive conduct.A response released to BusinessDesk under the Official Information Act (OIA) shows the agency spent $9.44m in legal fees and other costs, such as expert witnesses defending Winton’s $138m Sunfield claim.It spent...
