Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown has instructed Auckland Council chief executive Phil Wilson to give “serious consideration” to a group of Onehunga businesses seeking an inquiry into a $1 million targeted rate that lifted business rates by an additional 12% last year, for a 20% total annual increase.“This comes at a time when Auckland businesses are experiencing a prolonged and, for some, severe recession,” petitioner Andrew Body told the council’s governing body at its May meeting yesterday.The investment banker has bee...
