A spike in consumer spending, attributed to Father’s Day, ended what had otherwise been a slow winter for retailers on a positive note.Consumer spending data released by payments technology provider Worldline on Wednesday showed spending on its network reached $2.93 billion in August, up 5.2% on the previous year.This brought the rolling three-month winter season retail spend to $8.74b and $11.58b if hospitality providers were included.Food and liquor shops saw the biggest increase in spending, with the value of all transactions up 1...
