Vocus New Zealand made inroads into the gap between it and the major broadband players as it lifted first-half earnings 6 percent. The country’s third-largest retailer service provider operates the Slingshot, Orcon and Flip brands. It lifted its fibre broadband customer numbers 45 percent to 123,000 in the six months ended Dec. 31 from a year earlier, more than offsetting the 25 percent decline in copper customers to 82,000.
