Woolworths has filed a clearance application to the Commerce Commission to acquire ready-meal manufacturer Beak & Johnston. Through facilities in New Zealand and Australia, Beak & Johnston (B&J) manufactures and supplies ready-to-eat meals to grocery retailers, wholesalers, and food service providers under its brands. It also makes private-label food products for supermarkets and has been in business with Woolworths for more than 37 years. The proposed acquisition of B&J would result in Woolworths indirectly ownin...
