T&G spends $25.8 million on two tomato growers
By Suze Metherell Dec. 10 (BusinessDesk) - Turners & Growers, the fruit marketer majority owned by Germany's BayWa, bought two New Zealand tomato farms for $25.8 million to bolster its supply. The Auckland-based company spent $17.3 million for Bay of Plenty grower Great Lake Tomatoes and $8.5 million for Waikato tomato grower Rianto, which together will add 4,600 tonnes of tomatoes to T&G's annual production, it said in a statement.
