Zespri lifts forecast for 2018 tray returns, boosts SunGold licence allocations

By Paul McBeth Oct. 19 (BusinessDesk) - Zespri Group, the country's statutory kiwifruit exporter, raised its forecast for tray returns across all varieties in the 2018 financial year and is accelerating licensing for its SunGold fruit on growing demand for the sweeter variety. The Mount Manganui-based company forecasts total fruit and service payment to be $1.39 billion in the year ending March 31, up from a previous forecast of $1.34 billion, with the board signing off on higher returns to growers, it said in a statement.
