Contact Energy

Contact Energy was formed in 1996 and listed on the NZX in 1999. The company is the second largest generator of electricity in New Zealand with over 80% coming from renewable sources.

Contact operates two hydro stations, five geothermal power plants, two gas turbine plants and one diesel fired plant. The company is currently evaluating the feasibility of building another geothermal plant in the North Island. Contact also supplies households with piped natural gas, broadband internet and bottled LPG gas through subsidiary, Rockgas.

The company is dual listed on the NZX and ASX and appointed Mike Fuge as CEO in 2019.
