Air New Zealand has announced a strong financial result for the 2023 financial year, with earnings before other significant items and taxation of $585 million and statutory earnings before taxation of $574 million.

The airline's domestic capacity has reached 94% of pre-Covid levels and international capacity is at 71%.

In light of the strong demand for air travel, the airline will provide shareholders with a special dividend of 6.0 cents per share.

Air New Zealand has also announced a revised capital management framework effective from the 2024 financial year.

The airline acknowledges potential challenges in the future, including increased competition, volatile fuel prices, wage inflation, and increased airport charges.

As a result, the airline will not be providing guidance for the 2024 financial year at this time.
