ArborGen has provided an update on the impact of Hurricane Helene on its orchards in Georgia, USA.

The company's first priority has been the safety and welfare of its employees, many of whom have suffered damage to their homes or are facing challenges such as lack of electricity, cell coverage and access because of road damage and flooding.

ArborGen said the crop for the 2024-25 financial year is mostly unaffected, with minimal damage at its Bellville nursery.

However, two of its orchards were damaged, resulting in a lower seed harvest for the 2024-25 financial year and subsequent years.

These orchards represent about 30% of ArborGen's expected seed harvest.

The company said it has sufficient inventory to meet projected customer demand.

ArborGen is also contacting customers, as many forests have been devastated by flooding, mud, landslides and strong winds.
