Bruce Hassall has resigned as chair and director of Fletcher Building, in a move aimed at expediting the appointment of a new permanent chair and chief executive.
The company's board announced Hassall's immediate departure and revealed that Barbara Chapman has been appointed as the acting chair.
Chapman will now lead the search process for the new chair, both internally and externally.
However, she will not be a candidate for the permanent chair role.
The board and management of Fletcher Building will continue to focus on the company's operational performance, the finalisation of the New Zealand International Convention Centre project, and the resolution of the Western Australia plumbing issues.
