CDL Investments New Zealand has expressed disappointment at the Hastings District Council's decision to exclude its land at Middle Road, Havelock North, from the district's Future Development Strategy.

The company's chief executive, Jason Adams, said the outcome was at odds with the evidence presented and the government's direction to improve housing affordability and supply.

He noted that the land was recommended for inclusion by both council officers and an independent panel of expert planners.

Adams said the decision raises questions about the region's ability to meet future growth needs.

CDL Investments said it is now considering its options and seeking legal and planning advice on the next steps.
