Comvita has announced changes to its senior leadership roles as the company undergoes a strategic reset.

David Banfield will step down as chief executive and managing director, and will take on a project-based role as strategic adviser to the board.

Brett Hewlett has resigned as director and chair of the board, and will now serve as the acting CEO.

Bridget Coates has been appointed as the new chair of the board, while Mike Sang will take on the role of chair of the audit and risk committee.

The company also revealed that overall board numbers will be reduced from eight directors to six, with the majority being independent directors.
