Fletcher Building chief executive Ross Taylor has announced his retirement, while chairman Bruce Hassall will step down from the board later this year.

Taylor, who has served as group CEO since 2017, has a six-month notice period and will facilitate a smooth handover to his successor if required.

The company said an international and domestic search for a new group CEO will be conducted, with the process to be led by non-executive director Barbara Chapman.

Hassall's departure is part of a board renewal review and will take place at Fletcher Building's annual shareholders meeting in October.

Since 2017, Taylor and Hassall have been credited with leading the turnaround of the company, resulting in improved earnings and profitability.

Fletcher Building is now focused on its growth strategy, as well as the resolution of construction legacy projects and the development of an industry solution for the Perth plumbing issue.
