Mandy Simpson has been appointed as the new chief financial officer of Meridian Energy, effective from September 1, 2025.
Simpson, who has extensive executive experience in finance, operations, and technology, previously held CFO roles at the State Services Commission and IT consultancy Fronde Systems.
She also worked in management and accounting roles at Audit New Zealand and Deloitte.
Simpson is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a Master of Law with Honours from Cambridge University.
She will be responsible for finance, risk, treasury, investor relations, and procurement at Meridian.
In the meantime, Meridian's group financial controller, Helen Peters, has been appointed as the acting CFO.
The company also announced the creation of a new role of general manager of strategy and portfolio, while the role of general manager of wholesale has been disestablished.
Chris Ewers will initially act in the role of general manager of strategy and portfolio before transitioning to the position of electricity security manager.
