Meridian Energy reports increased hydro storage in May 2025

Meridian Energy has reported an increase in national hydro storage for the month of May 2025.

As of June 9, 2025, hydro storage was at 94% of the historical average, up from 88%.

The South Island storage increased to 88% of the average, while the North Island storage reached 138% of the average.

Meridian's monthly total inflows in May were 106% of the historical average, with the Waiau catchment inflows at 123% of the average.

However, the company's Waitaki catchment water storage at the end of May was 84% of the historical average.

In terms of retail sales volumes, Meridian reported a 0.7% increase compared to May 2024.
