Meridian Energy has reported an increase in national hydro storage levels for the month of April.
As of May 12, 2025, national hydro storage was at 88% of the historical average, up from 77%.
In the South Island, storage increased to 86% of the average, while in the North Island, it reached 105% of the average.
Meridian's monthly total inflows for April were 91% of the historical average.
However, the company said the Waiau catchment inflows in April were only 80% of the historical average.
Meridian's retail sales volumes in April were 0.4% higher than the same month last year.
National electricity demand in April was 3% lower than in April 2024.
