Neal Barclay has been appointed as a director of NZ Windfarms, effective immediately.

Barclay will serve as a director in an unpaid capacity and will attend his first formal meeting at the company's Special Shareholders Meeting.

He is expected to retire at the next Annual Meeting of Shareholders in 2024 but may seek election at that time.

Barclay, who is the Chief Executive of Meridian Energy, brings a wealth of electricity market experience to NZ Windfarms.

Meridian Energy is the largest power company in New Zealand and also holds the largest shareholder stake in NZ Windfarms at 19.99%.

The appointment of Barclay is expected to support the progress of the Te Rere Hau wind farm repower to the final investment decision.
