Neal Barclay has resigned as director of NZ Windfarms, effective immediately.

Barclay, who is also the CEO of Meridian Energy, cited NZ Windfarms' ongoing focus on exploring further development options and a desire to avoid potential conflicts of interest as the reasons for his resignation.

Barclay said he enjoyed his time on the company's board and was willing to continue working on the Te Rere Hau windfarm repower and other future development options.

Meridian will not be appointing another director to the NZ Windfarms board.
