Michael Hill's liability for damages has been significantly reduced by the NSW Court of Appeal.

The court handed down its judgment on the appeal of the NSW Supreme Court's ruling in a dispute between Michael Hill and Gispac over packaging.

The initial judgment had ordered Michael Hill to pay $2.26 million (plus interest) in damages, but this has now been reduced to $359,858 (plus interest).

In addition, Gispac has been ordered to pay Michael Hill's costs of the appeal.

However, the company advises that the decision is still subject to appeal within 28 days.

Michael Hill is a global jewellery group with over 300 stores in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
